Gippsland

The East Gippsland region is subject to a range of environmental changes including:

  • loss of native vegetation,
  • intrusion of saline ground water,
  • subsidence,
  • declining productivity of farms, and
  • the deteriorating condition of the Gippsland Lakes.

In addition, locals point to an apparent decline in the region's rainfall.
